Sometimes you should leave well-enough alone. Of course, never should you leave the unresolved unresolved, but that's for another time.
But is Matt Sanchez has made a return.
I was looking through the my sitemeter account and there was an entry there that someone has visited my site from Matt Sanchez's site, even though a) he seems to delete any comments that are too I-used-to-be-a-porn-starry or, b) he doesn't agree with, I didn't post any comments there.
At least not until today.
In the process of trying to figure out how a link from there could link here, I saw his top (har har) entry entitled “Gingrich Gets it Right”. About bilingual education.
Of course Gingrich is going to tell the Right story, just not the correct story (see what I did there?)
As if anyone needed more evidence that Matt Sanchez is really just a Republican Paris Hilton but with more porn tapes and less afflatus, here's proof that he's also a googletard.
Just for kicks, I went to google.com, typed in “benefits to bi-lingual education” and clicked the I Feel Lucky button—hey, I'm gay, you've gotta go for the ironic, no matter how pratty–and landed on a site that answers all the fallacies that the Conservatives have made regarding bi-lingual (don't get me started on multi-lingual) education.
Here's the text of the comment I left on Rod's Matt's site:
The people of the Netherlands would like to have a word with you. Same word, but in FOUR languages.
They are taught three core languages as they grow up, and one “foreign” language.
The languages? Dutch, German, English and usually French.
I took German for several years in HS and college, and having multiple examples of ANYTHING (in this case, languages) helps with the learning process. This is one of the most fundamental ways that human beings learn, and arguably the ability to take a set of specifics and generalize from them DEFINES learning.
And for the record? Most of the Dutch I've met in Amsterdam and even the smaller “rural” villages speak better English than most Americans do.
This is also anecdotal (but in that sort of super-ultra-anecdotal way where you see the same story a gazillion times just about everywhere that leads to one of those p < 0.0001 conclusions, but the research that's gone into learning multiple languages at once is not anecdotal. Of course, it is done with scientific rigor, but most of that happens outside of the Neocondom, where reality-based life is.
So, Matt Sanchez? To call you 'stupid' would be an insult to stupid people.
Oh why not flesh out the quote, it was an awesome movie:
Wanda: To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people. I've known sheep who could outwit you. I've worn dresses with higher IQs, but you think you're an intellectual, don't you, ape?
Otto: Apes don't read philosophy.
Wanda: Yes they do, Otto, they just don't understand it.
You're a pawn, Matt Sanchez, a piece that's expensable expendable. You're a whore to the core. You say that the porn industry flattens your soul? Well, you're with your people now.
